A Farmingville man fatally stabbed his estranged wife before stabbing himself and injuring a teenage relative on Thursday, Suffolk County police said.

Police responded to a 911 caller around 8:15 p.m. reporting a domestic incident at a house on Granny Road in Farmingville.

When officers arrived, they found Adriana Barbosa, 46, and Marcos Marques-Leal, 57, with multiple stab wounds. A teenage relative in the home suffered non-life-threatening wounds during the attack, police said.

Barbosa was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Marques-Leal was also taken to Stony Brook for treatment of serious injuries, police said. The teen was taken to the same hospital.

Police charged Marques-Leal with second-degree murder, first-degree criminal contempt, and endangering the welfare of a child.

He will be arraigned at a later date.

Police closed off Granny Road from Mount McKinley to Old Medford avenues around 8:25 p.m. Thursday. and reopened it around 7:15 a.m. Friday.

Three cars remained parked on the Granny Road property Friday morning. The exterior lights to the ranch home were still on, a welcome sign, plastic flamingos and plastic palm plant peeking from a blanket of snow.

As he was visiting his parents' home in Farmingville, Steven Parada, 47, of Port Jefferson, called Barbosa, a friend of his mother’s, a "really great person."

He recalled seeing her only a few weeks ago at a gas station and was shocked to hear the news.

Richard Dark, 65, who operates his chiropractic business and lives on Mount McKinley Avenue, said more than 20 police cars, fire department vehicles and ambulances had appeared when authorities closed the street.

He said the neighborhood is relatively quiet and he only had interacted with the residents of the Granny Road home once, when they lost their dog about a year ago, and neighbors tried to help them.
