People on the Move: Long Island promotions, new jobs

Joseph La Ferlita, of Locust Valley, a partner at Rivkin Radler in Uniondale, has been elected president of the Estate Planning Council of Long Island in Massapequa Park.

Veronica Lawless, of Baldwin, director of social work and case management at Northwell Stern Family Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Manhasset, has been appointed to the board of directors of Long Island Select Healthcare Inc. in Central Islip.

Rachel A. Fernbach, of Roslyn, partner and co-chair, not-for-profit group at Moritt Hock & Hamroff in Garden City, has been appointed to the board of directors of  Long Island Select Healthcare Inc. in Central Islip.

Denise Gillis, of Smithtown, director of business services at Nassau BOCES in Garden City, has been promoted to assistant superintendent of business services.

Denise Shirley, of East Hampton and Manhattan, comptroller and partner at Midway Investors and Merlon Management Corp. in Manhattan, was elected to the board of directors of The Retreat in East Hampton.

Cheryl L. Katz, of Massapequa, a partner in the trusts and estates group at Forchelli Deegan Terrana in Uniondale, has been appointed a trusts and estates section delegate to the New York State Bar Association House of Delegates in Albany.

Kimberly R. Cline, of Manhattan, president of Long Island University in Brookville, has been appointed Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) commissioner in Wilmington, Delaware.

Dr. Richard Stumacher, of Hampton Bays, has been hired as chief medical officer at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital in Southampton. Stumacher was medical director of case management at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut.

Tom Cilmi, of Islip, vice president, local government practice at McBride Consulting and Business Development Group in Babylon,  has been promoted to senior vice president, local government practice.
