Robin Quivers shared some big news on Monday's edition of "The Howard Stern Show" on Sirius XM. Stern's longtime radio partner announced that she's cancer-free after a 14-year battle with the disease
"I feel like a brand new person," said Quivers, 73, who was diagnosed with stage 3 endometrial cancer in 2012.
An elated Stern said her revelation was "the best news ever" as he expressed his support. "Robin, on behalf of this show and, you know, of course, to me, you're the most important. And I love you. And I am so happy for you. And I don't even know what you must be feeling inside," he said.
The Roosevelt and Rockville Centre-raised Stern, 72, also praised Quivers for doing as much research as possible to deal with the disease. "I’m gonna say this because this is really true," he said "I’ve watched the whole thing. She took charge of her health. She started to do all the right things. She never deviated, and she really took it seriously."
In a May 2012 episode of Stern's show, Quivers revealed that doctors discovered a grapefruit-size mass she soon learned was a tumor grown out of uterine tissue. Quivers added she was told by her doctor that if she survived surgery to remove the tumor, her quality of life would be severely diminished.
Quivers underwent a 12-hour surgical procedure, during which the mass was successfully removed, and then endured 15 months of radiation and chemotherapy treatments.
In 2013, she announced that her cancer was in remission, but had a recurrence three years later when a benign tumor was discovered. After that growth was removed, she began receiving immunotherapy infusions.
Sharing Quivers' good news on Monday, Stern said to her, "When you read the piece of paper that said cancer-free, you probably were like checking it nine times to make sure you were reading it right."
She replied: "I was like a person who's won the lottery and can't believe their eyes when they're seeing all the numbers. Is this what I think it says?"
