Girl Scouts to offer new treats next year: A cookie for dogs, another for people with allergies

This coming Girl Scout cookie season will offer more inclusive treats for everyone — even those with four legs.
Girl Scouts of the USA announced on Tuesday it will have two new additions — Patch Pals, a dog cookie, and Girl Scout Sparkables, an allergy-friendly cookie — as a part of its 2027 cookie season.
"Inspired by Girl Scouts around the country who have advocated for expanding the cookie lineup to meet the diverse needs of their communities, Patch Pals and Girl Scout Sparkables offer new ways for more girls, families and beloved pets to participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program — while staying true to what makes the tradition special," the Girl Scouts of the USA website said.
Developed with dog-centered subscription box company Bark, Patch Pals is a soft-baked, blueberry muffin-flavored dog cookie that "celebrates the bond between people and their pups."
Each dog cookie features one of four "patch" designs, representing iconic Girl Scout experiences, the website says.

Allergy-free cookie Girl Scout Sparkables was developed in a facility that avoids nine major food allergens.
Designed with allergy-friendly snack company Partake, the oatmeal cookie features chocolate chips and is dotted with colorful sprinkles to make families with allergies "feel more included," the website says.
Patch Pals and Girl Scout Sparkables will be available exclusively online for direct shipping beginning Jan. 12, with the national launch of the 2027 cookie sales season, joining classics like Thin Mints, Samoas/Caramel deLites and Tagalongs/Peanut Butter Patties.
