Mom Made Designz finds a home at Babe Aesthetics suite in Rockville Centre

Babe Aesthetics in Rockville Centre is more than just a salon — it’s an operation of independently owned, women-run businesses in a collaborative space. It's one-stop shop for all things beauty and style, from lashes and laser to esthetics and waxing. In the suite, shoppers will find Mom Made Designz, a mother-daughter business specializing in customized apparel for all ages.
The booth, run by Theresa (mom) and Laura Barone, is the first thing you’ll see upon entering Babe Aesthetics. They launched their boutique on Instagram in 2021.
After online and local success, Laura was introduced to Babe Aesthetics through her sister-in-law, and hosted Mom Made Designz’s first brick-and-mortar pop-up shop in the space two years ago with her mother. Not long after, the duo was offered a permanent spot in the suite.
The journey began after Theresa got a Cricut cutting machine. At the time Laura, was a new mom in tune with the latest in children’s fashion.
"Kids are the inspiration for the newest trends," says Laura, but just as those trends come and go — children are known for outgrowing their clothes within a year.
Theresa started making clothes for her grandchildren, and soon teamed up with her daughter to launch their business.
Since starting up, Mom Made Designz has supplied local families and schools with customized clothing. And although inspired by kids, Mom Made Designz also offers apparel and accessories like key chains, and home decor, while catering to all occasions, including baby showers and bachelorette parties.
Laura notes she has experience with a family business, as her father and brother run a butcher shop together in Oceanside.
Inside the head of Mom Made Designz, there are two brains — Laura, who keeps up on trends and runs the team’s social media, and Theresa, who brings the ideas to life. A large part of their business model is supplying their community with items that are on trend, yet affordable, ranging from $5 to $80.
