Sisters open The Goose Shop boutique in Long Beach

Sisters Tracy Barbieri and Nicole Caporusso always dreamed of opening a store together. In November , that aspiration became reality when they opened their first brick-and-mortar in Long Beach. 

Barbieri, an interior designer by trade, and Caporusso, a truck broker, left their full-time jobs and opened The Goose Shop, a home decor and speciality gift shop.

The sisters grew up in Lawrence, a short distance from Long Beach, and when an empty retail space opened in the west end, the duo jumped at the opportunity to open a shop there. Thus, The Goose Shop, whose name is an homage to the sisters’ love for animals, came to be. Nestled on a cozy block, just minutes from the beach, the boutique is where you can find "a little something for everyone," Barbieri says.

This wouldn’t be the pair's first business venture together. Years prior, Barbieri and Caporusso had brought their inventory of Barbieri's handmade resin art and Caporusso's baby clothes to craft fairs across Long Island.

After witnessing the success of their craft stand and the fulfillment it brought into their lives, they decided to turn it into something more permanent.

Barbieri previously worked in an interior design studio, where she developed retail experience that would come in handy when opening her own store.

Barbieri says she always wanted to open a home goods store, but when it came to The Goose Shop, she found herself wanting more than that — "a store where you can shop for yourself and your loved ones," she says. And while Caporusso didn’t have career-based retail experience, she had a love of gifting and experience selling children’s clothes alongside her sister at craft fairs.

The shop carries everything from home decor to holiday-themed items, children’s clothing, viral squishies, NeeDohs, toys and special event gifts for showers and birthdays. Prices range from $2-120.
