A beloved South Shore luncheonette kicks off the 2026 spring/summer dining season this weekend with a bash celebrating its 100th year in business, and throwback pricing to match.
Flo’s Famous Luncheonette, a seasonal open-air luncheonette a block away from Corey Beach in Blue Point, will celebrate its centennial Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. with carnival games, cornhole, face painting and a "Flo-Back" menu.
The 100 cent menu will include classics such as the cheeseburger, hot dog, grilled cheese, BLT with Canadian bacon, french fries and chicken fingers at $1 each. Drinks at the same pricing include a 12-ounce milkshake and a 16-ounce Coke.
The eatery was founded in 1926 by Florence "Flo" Kimball. "Her whole business model was to grab the people coming from the city out east, and this would be like a pit stop for them," previous owner Connor Vigliotta told Newsday in 2020. "As the community has grown, they've kind of rallied around that legacy."
For the past three, years Flo's has been owned and operated by J&B Restaurant Partners. General manager Julie Kiley said she has been working since the winter to organize the celebration and research the history of the eatery.
J&B Restaurant Partners chief operating officer Martin Grimes said while they hope the celebration draws new customers, they also hope multigenerational fans of the storied eatery join in the fun.
"We want people that haven’t been to Flo’s in a while to come back and to celebrate 100 years and to give back to the community," he said.
As part of the celebration, Flo’s will also be giving nearly $1,000 in donations to Friends of the Bayport Blue Point Library, Patchogue Lioness Lions Fund and Blue Point Civic Association. Five different PTAs will also be receiving donations, including James Wilson Young Middle School, Academy Street PTA, Blue Point Elementary School PTA, Blue Point High School PTA and Sylvan Avenue Elementary School PTA.
"It’s nice to see something like this where it’s something that’s stuck for so many years," Kiley said.
