Mornings in Ronkonkoma just got better with Toast Coffee+Kitchen, the newest restaurant at Station Yards. The popular all-day brunch chain opened at the multiuse development Monday after what owner Terry Scarlatos said has been nearly a year and a half of planning.
The original Toast opened in 2002 in Port Jefferson and has since grown to include locations in Patchogue, Bay Shore, Long Beach and Port Jefferson Station.

The new Ronkonkoma space has more seating than any other location — 180 inside plus an outdoor space with 10 tables facing the Ronkonkoma train station. It's trimmed with metallic damask ceiling tiles and a striking mural featuring wildlife, a conductor and a train reads "It’s all about the journey, not the destination." Scarlatos said the inspiration is drawn from trip he took decades ago, predating his chain of restaurants.
"The train was a big part of my journey cross country," he said. "From that journey, I started to see how the coffeehouses were exploding out on the west coast and how a lot of the independent coffee houses were flourishing. The independent coffee shops were just providing really unique and interesting spaces and I felt like one day I’d love to have my own."
The menu is the same as other locations with brunch-readdy Nutella & Banana crepes ($14.95) alongside roasted peach avocado toast (15.95) served on grilled sourdough toast made with burrata, hot honey, shallots, pink salt and sage. If you’re looking for something heartier, the menu includes a chicken burger ($17.95).
Grab-and-go breakfast items for early commuters is planned to begin in a few weeks, manager Sonia Figueroa said, and will likely include overnight oats, sandwiches, bottled juices and lemonade.
Earlier this year, Scarlatos closed his nighttime concept, Revival By Toast, which was housed in the original Port Jefferson location, to focus on opening the Station Yards location as well as another new spinoff, The Study by Toast in East Setauket. He plans to bring Revival back this fall with evening hours at Station Yards.
