Tulum Taco Stand has opened on the Long Beach boardwalk, adding a bit of Mexican flair to this summer's beach days.

The stand at 198 Boardwalk opened last weekend. It's the takeout component attached to owner Nicolas Geeraerts' soon-to-come high-end Mexican steakhouse, Hacienda Tulum.

The stand is serving a small menu of  six taco flavors, six playa bowls, churros and beverages, such as frozen margaritas, from a walk-up window on the boardwalk. Hours currently vary, and will be announced on @TulumTacoStand's Instagram, Geeraerts said.

His high-end restaurant component, also at 198 Boardwalk, is slated to open the first week in August, Geeraerts said. Hacienda Tulum will stand out from Tulum Tacos & Tequila outposts in Mineola and Baldwin. "This restaurant wasn’t supposed to open until September, October and the construction team has pushed so hard and worked so hard," he said.

Along with the taco stand, Hacienda Tulum is expected to have two other concepts within: a Mexican steakhouse and a hidden speakeasy. The menu for the steakhouse is still being developed.

"Steakhouses are very much back up and coming," Geeraerts said. "We are on the beach so we also wanted to have a very heavy seafood offering." Moles, crudos and ceviches are expected on the menu as well.

Hacienda Tulum will have seating for 175 indoors and  50 outdoors. The restaurant will also have a private room with a private patio.

The final concept is the agave bar, Cemelle, an Aztec word meaning peace, tranquility and unity. The hidden speakeasy is expected to have 24 seats and will serve a combination of European style tapas and tasting menu eats.

It’s no secret that parking can be an issue in Long Beach, so guests of Hacienda Tulum will have access to the eatery's separate entrance underneath the building, with 68 allocated parking spaces. A private elevator is also expected to take diners directly into the restaurant. Valet parking is also expected to be offered three to four days a week depending on business, Geeraerts said.
