A Coram man faces multiple drug charges after Suffolk County police officers searched him outside a Huntington Station motel and turned up more than 80 grams of crystal meth and other narcotics, the department said Monday.
Officers discovered the drugs about 10:45 p.m. on Thursday when they encountered Baron O’Callaghan, 29, in a parked car outside the Rodeway Inn in Huntington Station, a Suffolk police spokesperson told Newsday via email. He was found with methamphetamine, crack cocaine and "other various drugs," the spokesperson said.
A photo posted to the Suffolk police 2nd Precinct social media account shows that officers also allegedly recovered three cellphones, cash and drug paraphernalia during the arrest.
O’Callaghan was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to court records.
He pleaded not guilty Friday before District Court Judge James F. Leonick in Central Islip. Leonick ordered him released of his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 22. Defense attorney information for him was not immediately available Monday afternoon.
