State police on Friday identified the body found on a hiking trail Thursday as Lauren Balik, 35, of New York City,

State police spokesperson Brittany Burton confirmed the identity and said Balik's body was found in Camp Hero State Park.

People described as "witnesses" found the body on Thursday afternoon,  Burton told Newsday via text message.

Additional information, including whether police suspect criminality, was not available immediately available.
