A Coram teen has been identified by police as the victim of a fatal shooting Wednesday night at Eisenhower Park.
Police said Quacere Hagans, 15, was shot at about 8:30 p.m. in the park during an argument at a social media meet-up for a barbecue among what police described as a "Blood gang group."
Hagans was shot and taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Two other men were shot and listed in critical condition, police said.
His family could not be reached for comment.
Police arrested a Westbury teen on a weapons charge after he was seen leaving the scene of the shooting, but have not made any additional arrests or charged anyone in the shooting.
The 17-year-old was charged with criminal possession of a weapon after police said he was found in a gated area of the park with a high-capacity 9 mm handgun nearby. Prosecutors said shell casings from the same type of gun were found at the shooting.
The teen, who is being tried as a juvenile, pleaded not guilty Thursday and was ordered remanded to jail. He is scheduled to return to court Wednesday.
On Friday, a Nassau County Police Department spokesperson told Newsday the investigation remained ongoing.
"We have identified individuals involved and are awaiting forensics," the spokesperson said. "We will provide a further update when we are able to do so."
Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said Wednesday at the scene that an argument between two people led to gunfire at the cookout, which took place in an area next to tennis courts and a playground, just north of the park's Hempstead Turnpike entrance.
