An East Meadow man faces attempted murder charges after he stabbed another man in the back during an argument outside a Levittown comedy club on Thursday, Nassau County police said.

Officers responded at around 6:36 p.m. at Governor's Comedy Club at 90 Division Ave. and determined that Francis Jimenea, 54, had become involved in an argument with a 58-year-old man.

The argument escalated and moved to a back alley. where Jimenea allegedly stabbed the man in the back with a knife.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was in critical condition, police said.

Officers arrested Jimenea without incident. He was also taken to a hospital for treatment of a laceration.

Jimenea is charged with second-degree attempted murder.

He will be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
