The accused drunken driver who last week was involved in a fatal head-on collision in Bethpage has died of injuries he suffered in the crash, Nassau police said Tuesday.

Joseph Curto, 54, of Seaford, died while hospitalized Saturday, police said in a statement. They provided no additional details.

Curto had been charged with driving while intoxicated after police said his northbound 2013 Honda Pilot collided with a southbound 2008 Honda Accord just before midnight last Tuesday on Seamans Neck Road.

The driver of the Accord, Cindy Saborio, 40, of Wantagh, died at the scene, authorities said.

Police said an investigation conducted at the crash scene determined Curto was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Curto was taken to a hospital in critical condition after the crash.
