17-year-old shot in Mastic backyard; suspect remains at large

A shooter remains at large after a 17-year-old was seriously injured in Mastic Thursday evening, Suffolk police said.
Around 7:25 p.m., an altercation took place in the backyard of a Neptune Avenue residence that ended with the teenager shot; the shooter then fled the scene, police said.
The 17-year-old was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police said they could not confirm additional details as the investigation was ongoing.
