Nassau court records: Lawrence man allegedly planned to kill sister before crossbow shooting

A Lawrence man had been planning to kill his sister since December when he allegedly shot and wounded her with a crossbow last week, according to a criminal complaint filed in Nassau County court.

Samy Sedhom, 21, faces charges of attempted murder, assault, stalking, weapons possession and tampering with evidence in connection with the alleged attack Friday evening.

Nassau County police officers responding to a call about 9:23 p.m. Friday arrived at a home on West Avenue in Lawrence to discover a 28-year-old woman bleeding from the right side of her face, according to a  police department news release. Investigators at the scene found that Sedhom had fired an arrow from the crossbow toward the woman, grazing and cutting her face. The release said officers arrested Sedhom at the home without incident. The release did not identify the victim or mention any possible relation to Sedhom.

The criminal complaint states that Sedhom parked outside the siblings' shared home about 9:20 p.m. Friday, waiting for his sister, 28, to return from the gym.

The sister parked her car in the home's detached garage and began entering the door code to shut the gate, according to the court records.

"At this time she felt a sharp pain to the right side of her face, and noticed a laceration and heavy bleeding," reads the criminal complaint, which does not include the sister's identity.

Sedhom later allegedly admitted to police on the scene that he had been planning to kill his sister since Christmas, according to the court filings. The court records also allege he used a G5 hunting arrow and a Barnett Whitetail Hunter Crossbow in the attack. Sedhom allegedly admitted to installing a GPS tracking device inside his sister's car to track her movements, the records state.

After allegedly shooting his sister, Sedhom drove about a quarter mile away and tossed the crossbow in someone’s yard, the records show.

Police searched Sedhom’s bedroom that evening and found a Barnett Whitetail Hunter Crossbow in a box and a black Katana sword, according to the complaint.

Court records show that Sedhom was remanded without bail after his arraignment Sunday where he pleaded not guilty, He is due back in Nassau District Court on Wednesday.

Sedhom is being represented by the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, which was not immediately available for comment late Monday.
