A West Babylon man was arrested and charged Monday for possessing child sex abuse materials, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Officials executed a search warrant at the home of Mark Escorcia Jr. on March 13 and seized electronic devices, the Suffolk County Police Department said in a news release. An investigation into Escorcia began after the department received a tip through the nationwide internet Crimes Against Children hotline.
After the Digital Forensic Unit examined the devices found in Escorcia's home, police charged him at the First Precinct in West Babylon with possessing a sexual performance by a child and promoting a sexual performance by a child.
He pleaded not guilty Monday before Judge Eric Sachs at First District Court in Central Islip, according to court records. Sachs released him on non-monetary conditions.
"Mr. Escorcia adamantly denies the charges against him," Chase Brown, the defense attorney representing Escorcia, told Newsday via text message. "He has been cooperative in the investigation thus far and looks forward to his day in court to be exonerated."
