Long Islanders looking forward to the drone light show substituting for the annual air show over Jones Beach will have to wait until the last day of their three-day weekend due to the weather forecast.

The Jones Beach State Park drone performance will now take place at 9 p.m. on Monday, Memorial Day, because of a forecast of "inclement weather" for Sunday when it had been scheduled, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation said in a news release.

The FourLeaf Air Show that traditionally marks Long Island's unofficial start to the summer season was moved to July 5-6 to coincide with nationwide celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Attendees can expect a 20-minute show Monday, during which up to 1,000 drones will illuminate the sky with "patriotic symbols and imagery to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday and honor military personnel," the parks department said.

"Primary viewing for the show will take place at the park’s Central Mall, where music will be simulcast along the boardwalk for an interactive viewing experience," the release said. "The show will take place Monday weather permitting."

The Revolutionary War reenactment village is still scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, the parks department said, but will be relocated to the Boardwalk Café on the Central Mall at the state park.
