Hempstead Turnpike through East Meadow has reopened following an auto accident Wednesday evening that closed the road in both directions, Nassau County Police said in a news release.
The road had been closed between Franklin and Prospect avenues as of 9:15 p.m. but reopened to traffic shortly before 11 p.m.
Details were sparse, but a police spokesperson earlier said the roadway would likely be closed "for a while."
"It seems pretty involved," the spokesperson said at the time.
