State and federal labor investigations found these 66 Long Island home healthcare agencies liable for a total of $11.6 million in back wages to their employees, ranging in amounts as small as $23 and as large as $1.3 million.

A Newsday analysis shows that home healthcare is one of the most vulnerable industry sectors for wage theft on Long Island. In 2025, it accounted for the largest share of wages — 40% — owed to employees, more than the restaurant and construction industries.

The data below, which is current as of October 2026, represents investigations that were opened and closed between 2017 and 2025.

Each dollar figure represents a final determination by labor investigators, though amounts may change through appeals, settlements or further enforcement.
