LI woman charged with drunken driving under Leandra's Law, police say

Nassau County police announced the arrest of Freeport woman for drunken driving under Leandra's Law on Friday night, according to a news release.
Zaneta Lachapelle, 43, was driving with her 10-year-old daughter when Freeport police officers initiated a traffic stop near North Grove Street and Lena Avenue at 10:10 p.m. The driver allegedly showed signs of intoxication and was arrested without incident, police said.
Lachapelle's daughter was released to a family friend, police said.
Lachapelle was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child. Leandra's Law makes it a felony to drive under the influence with a child 15 or younger.
She is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
