Landscaper fatally electrocuted while cutting tree in Bellmore, police say

A landscaper was fatally electrocuted while cutting down a tree in Bellmore on Thursday, Nassau County police said.

The landscaper, a man whose name was not immediately released by authorities, was cutting down a tree about 5:30 p.m. on Tanwood Court when he was electrocuted, police said in a Friday news release. A limb from the downed tree struck an electrical line, energizing it with electricity, police said. 

A Nassau County police medic pronounced the landscaper dead at the scene. 

Police are investigating. Police did not provide the name of the victim's employer.
