About 50 firefighters were called to a fire in a mixed-use building in Plainview on Monday night that displaced four residents, authorities said.
Around 11:35 p.m., the Plainview Fire Department was called to a fire in a two-story wood frame house at the intersection of Old Country Road and Hope Drive, according to the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Firefighters found smoke coming from the building that developed into a working fire, Deputy Nassau County Fire Coordinator Nicholas Corrado said in a release.
The structure was described as mixed-use, with a doctor's office and an apartment, the fire marshal’s office said.
The Syosset, Farmingdale, Melville, Bethpage, Hicksville and Jericho fire departments and fire marshal's office responded.
The fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes by about 50 firefighters; no injuries were reported, Corrado said.
Four occupants of the apartment, two adults and two children, evacuated after smoke detectors alerted them to the fire. They did not require housing relocation assistance, the fire marshal’s office said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Town of Oyster Bay Building Department was notified to assess damage to the structure.
