BACKGROUND

  • Stark, 62, of Riverhead, a registered Republican is running on the Republican and Conservative lines as she seeks a second term. She previously spent 10 years as chief of staff for former Legis. Al Krupski, a Democrat who is now supervisor of Southold Town.
  • Stark has spent nearly 30 years in various governmental positions, beginning as clerk of the legislature in 1996.
  • She received a bachelor’s in operational management from St. Joseph’s College.

ISSUES

  • Stark said environmental issues and the preservation of open space and farmland are "top of mind" for residents in her district. 
  • She cited recent legislation to create a new waterfront protection program, which she described as "another layer of protecting that quality of life that we have out here."
  • Public safety is another priority, she said, saying she helps assure the county supports the local police departments in her district in Riverhead and Southold.
