BACKGROUND

  • Lennon, 45, of Rocky Point, is a registered Conservative and is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election. He is seeking a second term.
  • He is a lieutenant colonel in the Marine Corps reserves and an attorney at a Manhattan law firm, where he specializes in military and federal employment law.
  • Lennon has a law degree from the Touro Law Center in Central Islip.

ISSUES

  • Lennon has focused on helping veterans and recently sponsored legislation to fly the Suicide Awareness and Remembrance flag at Armed Forces Plaza in Hauppauge.
  • Lennon said combating human trafficking remains a key priority and that he is working on a bill “to give the law enforcement and [district attorneys] further tools to combat this issue.” He said human trafficking affects all corners of the county.
  • He said his district along the North Shore has dealt with coastal erosion and he is working to get assistance from the state government to allow necessary permitting for projects to address the issue.
