BACKGROUND

  • Thompson, 59, lives in Baldwin, grew up in Roosevelt and graduated from Uniondale High School. A registered Republican, she is running on the Republican and Conservative lines. 
  • She graduated from the College of William and Mary and Howard University School of Law. She has practiced in New York for more than 30 years. 
  • She currently serves as a deputy county attorney in the Family Court Bureau and is an adjunct professor of law at Hofstra University. Jackson is also of counsel to the Freeport-based law firm of Comrie & Associates. 

ISSUES

  • As the mother of three young adults, Thompson said she understands the importance of creating and sustaining good-paying jobs and workforce housing, while maintaining the suburban character of our communities, so that our young people don’t have to leave the region.
  • She said as former commissioner of community development of the Village of Hempstead, she spent years advocating for families and working to improve their quality of life by upgrading parks, repairing roads and improving water infrastructure.
  • She said she will work closely with law enforcement to make communities safer and will work to cut taxes by leveraging government resources and eliminating wasteful spending.
