BACKGROUND
- Dunne, 75, of Levittown, is a registered Republican and is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election. He was appointed to the Hempstead Town Board in 2017 after serving 22 years as a Nassau County legislator in the 15th District. .
- As a member of the town board, he has worked on many issues, such as the expansion of tax exemptions for veterans and keeping vaping businesses and products out of children’s hands and away from schools.
- Dunne served in the Marines during the Vietnam War.
ISSUES
- Dunne said he supports plans to cut taxes 18% next year and will continue to look for ways to reduce costs without sacrificing town programs and services.
- He said protecting the suburbs is a priority and opposes the development of high-density, multifamily high-rise apartment buildings in residential communities.
- Dunne said he will continue efforts to improve the community’s parks, pools and beaches.
