BACKGROUND

  • Wehrheim, 76, a registered Republican, is running for reelection on the Republican and Conservative lines. He was elected as town supervisor in 2018 and is seeking his third four-year term.
  • Wehrheim has served in Smithtown government since 1972, primarily with the town's Department of Parks, Buildings and Grounds. He was appointed department director in 1989 and served until his retirement in 2003.
  • Wehrheim served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy.
