BACKGROUND

  • Phillips, 65, of Manhasset is a registered Republican running for a her second, 4-year term. She is running on the Republican and Conservative lines.
  • She served in the New York State Senate from 2017 to 2019; she is also a former Mayor of the Village of Flower Hill. 
  • Before entering politics, Phillips worked on Wall Street for 25 years as a financial adviser at J.P. Morgan, MetLife and Goldman Sachs, most recently as a vice president. She holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's in business administration in finance.

ISSUES

  • Phillips says she would like to help keep county taxes stable while steering Nassau toward stronger financial footing and earning upgrades from the nation’s top bond- rating agencies.
  • She vows to continue to safeguard taxpayer money by holding vendors accountable and exposing inefficiencies, saving millions.
  • Phillips says will focus on bringing innovation and accountability to the comptroller's office. Phillips has advanced digital payment systems for vendors and spearheaded the rollout of Nassau’s first Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, aimed at making government operations more transparent and efficient.
