BACKGROUND

  • Compitello, 62, of Amityville, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic and Conservative party lines in the general election. She is seeking reelection.  
  • She is a graduate of Amityville High School and has an associate’s degree in early childhood development from SUNY Farmingdale.
  • She was elected clerk in 2017 and previously worked as Steve Bellone’s executive assistant during his tenure as Babylon’s town supervisor, and in the same role under Richard Schaffer when he was elected to the position.

ISSUES

  • Compitello cites extending office hours and creating forms that are easier to fill out, including ADA-compliant documents, among her accomplishments in office.
  • She said she wants to work toward digitizing older paper records and separating out documents to be saved as historic records.
  • She wants the clerk’s office to remain a “one-stop shop” where employees help constituents get the information they need, including from other agencies.
