  • Calder-Piedmonte, 45, of Springs, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic and Working Families party lines in the general election. He is seeking a first full-term after being appointed to the Town Council in 2024 and then winning the special election for the seat last November.
  • He served on the East Hampton Town Planning Board for 12 years.
  • Calder-Piedmonte has a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Cornell University in upstate Ithaca, and owns a vegetable farm with a friend from college.

ISSUES

  • Calder-Piedmonte, who has served as a liaison to the housing department, said that affordable housing is “a major crisis on the East End,” and called it his number one issue.
  • He said he wants to prevent East Hampton from becoming “a purely tourist community” but acknowledged that tourism is an important part of the township’s economy. He said there is a balance to strike between business, particularly seasonal ones, and protecting residents, especially those who live in East Hampton year-round, who may feel that the properties are being overused.
  • Calder-Piedmonte said protecting public access to East Hampton’s protected natural resources, including its beaches and trails, is important.
