Scianablo, 48, of Garden City, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic Party line in the general election.
He is a former Queens County prosecutor, retired NYPD officer and a U.S. Marine combat veteran who served in Iraq.
Scianablo received his undergraduate degree in criminal justice from St. John’s University and his law degree from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in Hempstead.

Scianablo said he wants to bring fiscal transparency and accountability to Hempstead through audits of town finances and operations that explain to taxpayers how their money is being spent.
He said the town should reduce the number of flyers it sends out and residents should be given the opportunity to opt out of receiving them.
Scianablo said the town should attract redevelopment at the Hub that focuses on housing as well as research and education in science and medicine rather than a casino.
