BACKGROUND
- Scianablo, 48, of Garden City, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic Party line in the general election.
- He is a former Queens County prosecutor, retired NYPD officer and a U.S. Marine combat veteran who served in Iraq.
- Scianablo received his undergraduate degree in criminal justice from St. John’s University and his law degree from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in Hempstead.
ISSUES
- Scianablo said he wants to bring fiscal transparency and accountability to Hempstead through audits of town finances and operations that explain to taxpayers how their money is being spent.
- He said the town should reduce the number of flyers it sends out and residents should be given the opportunity to opt out of receiving them.
- Scianablo said the town should attract redevelopment at the Hub that focuses on housing as well as research and education in science and medicine rather than a casino.
