BACKGROUND
- Walker, 74, of Hicksville, a registered Republican, is seeking a ninth term and is running on the Republican and Conservative Party lines.
- Walker previously served as an Oyster Bay councilwoman from 2004 through 2009.
- She is a member of the Hicksville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a past president of Irish Americans in Government, where she continues to play an active role. She also previously served as a trustee on the Hicksville Board of Education.
ISSUES
- Walker said she has voted to hold the line on taxes while maintaining services. She said she wants to make Nassau County more affordable, including helping seniors remain in their homes and allow families to buy and build future homes.
- She supports hiring additional police officers and is pushing to change state laws including cashless bail.
- She has worked to secure safe drinking water for residents, including combating contamination from the Grumman/Navy Plume and 1,4-dioxane. She has helped obtain funding for remediation and infrastructure improvements — including $300,000 in ARPA funding for the Hicksville Water District.
