Suffolk County Proposal Two

A Resolution

Voters will decide whether to increase the term lengths for Suffolk County legislators from two years to four years, eliminating the need for three elections in four years. The Republican-led legislature passed the Term Limit Preservation Act earlier this year in response to the state shifting local elections to even-numbered years.

A “YES” vote allows winners in November’s race to begin serving four-year terms and face reelection in 2028.

A “NO” vote will require legislators to seek office again in 2026 and 2028.
