Timothy C. Hubbard R
Supervisor, Town of Riverhead
Credit: James Escher
BACKGROUND
- Hubbard, 65, of Riverhead, a registered Republican, is seeking a second term as supervisor. He is running on the Republican and Conservative lines.
- He was a town councilman from 2015 to 2022 and served as deputy supervisor in 2018. Hubbard also previously served on the Riverhead school board.
- Hubbard attended Suffolk County Community College and the Suffolk County Police Academy. He retired as a first grade detective in 2014 after 32 years with the Riverhead Town Police Department.
ISSUES
- Hubbard said he would continue funding public safety initiatives and said that under his leadership, crime is down as the town’s police department reached a new high of 100 officers. If reelected, Hubbard said he would prioritize construction of a new Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps headquarters and a new town Justice Court facility.
- He said he would advance downtown revitalization and issue approvals for the new Town Square. Hubbard also plans to continue seeking grants to cover the town square project and a new parking garage in downtown Riverhead.
- Development of the Enterprise Park at Calverton is another key goal, though 1,644 acres of the site are tied up in litigation. He wants to develop the site into a hub of innovative, high-paying tech jobs.
