Burrs Lane crash in Dix Hills kills 86-year-old man, injures passenger, police say

An 86-year-old man was killed and a passenger injured in a single-vehicle crash in Dix Hills Saturday, according to Suffolk County police.
The man was driving a 2026 Subaru on Burrs Lane when he lost control, left the roadway and struck a tree around 1:50 p.m., officials said. The pair were driving north at the time of the crash, according to police.
The 86-year-old man was pronounced dead at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip and his passenger, an 84-year-old woman, was also transported there with minor injuries.
Police did not release either of their identities or say what led to the crash.
The vehicle was impounded and an investigation is ongoing, police said. Detectives asked anyone with information to call 631-854-8252.
