Tractor trailer catches fire on LIE westbound in Islandia, police say

A tractor trailer caught fire on the westbound Long Island Expressway on Saturday morning, according to Suffolk County police.
A 911 caller reported the 18-wheeler on fire at 5:35 a.m. The incident occurred in Islandia between exits 57 and 58, police said.
No injuries were reported.
Pictures from the scene show the tractor's cab destroyed by the fire. Westbound lanes on the LIE were initially closed but the tractor trailer was on the side of the road as of 7:30 a.m., police said.
The Central Islip and Hauppauge fire departments responded to the fire.
