Wayne Conforti Jr., of Flanders, fatally struck by vehicle, Southampton police say

A pedestrian was killed early Sunday after he was struck by a car while crossing the street in Flanders, Southampton Town police said.
Around 1:30 a.m., Wayne Conforti Jr., 37, of Flanders, was crossing the street on Flanders Road near the lighted Oak Avenue intersection, when a 2016 Toyota Tacoma traveling west on Flanders Road struck him.
Conforti was taken to Peconic Bay Medial Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The Toyota was impounded for a safety inspection. Detectives said anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Southampton Town Police Detective Division at 631-702-2230.
