Sections of two major Nassau County highways will be closed over the weekend, the New York State Department of Transportation announced.
The westbound Long Island Expressway will be closed between Robbins Lane at Exit 43A and the Northern State Parkway at Exit 42 in Oyster Bay from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge deck maintenance. Robbins Lane also will be closed between the North and South Service Roads in both directions, the DOT said in a Wednesday news release.
Passenger vehicles can access the LIE via a 2-mile detour on the North Service Road, or use the westbound Northern State Parkway as an alternate route, according to the news release.
For commercial traffic access to the westbound LIE, the DOT recommends taking Exit 44N for the northbound Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway, or State Route 135, to Exit 14W toward westbound Jericho Turnpike, or State Route 25, for about 4 miles.
The southbound Meadowbrook State Parkway also will be closed between Merrick Road at Exit M9 and Loop Parkway at Exit M10 in Hempstead from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday to install new concrete riding surfaces on the bridges over Fundyand False channels.
Exit M10 merges onto Loop Parkway, which is the primary connection to Point Lookout, Lido Beach and Long Beach.
Meadowbrook State Parkway can be accessed via detours on eastbound Sunrise Highway, State Route 27, or eastbound Merrick Road to the southbound Wantagh State Parkway to westbound Bay Parkway.
