Widespread delays and cancellations hindered the morning commute Wednesday on major branches of the Long Island Rail Road due to a downed tree on the tracks east of ‌Kew Gardens‌, the LIRR announced.

Numerous issues were reported on the Babylon, Port Jefferson, Long Beach and Ronkonkoma branches, including at least eight canceled trains to Penn Station or Grand Central, the railroad posted on its website.

The downed tree was removed and LIRR service was on or close to schedule system wide about 8 a.m.
