Long Island Rail Road trains back on schedule after downed wires caused morning delays

Long Island Rail Road lines were running on or close to schedule as of 9 a.m. after multiple branches faced delays and cancellations early Friday due to downed wires or equipment trouble.
Trains before 7 a.m. on the Hempstead, Far Rockaway, and City Terminal Zone branches were canceled in both directions due to downed wires on the tracks on Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn.
Several trains after 7 a.m. were being diverted from Atlantic Terminal to Penn Station.
As of 9 a.m., the branches were on or close to schedule, the MTA website said.
In addition, the Port Jefferson Branch experienced delays Friday morning due to equipment trouble, with the 6:13 a.m. train from Port Jefferson to Hunterspoint Avenue operating 10 to 15 minutes late.
As of 9 a.m., the Port Jefferson branch had no delays but will have extra service.
Some trains on the Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches have added stops at Elmont-UBS Arena for racing attendees
Commuters should check the MTA website or the TrainTime app for service status.
