Boutique Hotel Indigo opens in Riverhead

Now open in Riverhead: Hotel Indigo, a 100-room boutique franchise of the Intercontinental hotel group.
Owner Robert Salvatico is billing the hotel, formerly a Best Western, as a "starting point" to the Hamptons and North Fork wine region. Its retro '60s-themed decor and luxe poolside lounge lend the hotel a Palm Springs feel.
After this weekend's grand opening festivities (former NBA basketball player Dennis Rodman and "Entourage" star Kevin Dillon are scheduled to appear Sunday), the hotel will open for regular business.
Salvatico says weekday room rates will start at $229, weekends from $359. The hotel has its own restaurant, Bistro 72, and is planning to organize wine tours this fall. Details at 631-369-2200, indigoeastend.com.
