Man found dead in water near the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, police say

An unidentified man found in the water near the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge was pronounced dead on Wednesday morning, the NYPD said.
Around 9:45 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of an unconscious person at Ferry Point Park, under the bridge, which spans six lanes of I-678 over the East River.
Officers found the man in the water near the shoreline. EMS responded and pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.
The city Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has not determined the cause of death. An investigation is ongoing, police said.
