Thousands cast ballots on LI in first days of early voting

ALBANY — More than 4,700 people in Nassau and Suffolk counties voted during the first two days of early voting.
The Nassau County Board of Elections recorded 3,354 votes between Saturday and Sunday, according to the state Board of Elections. In Suffolk County, 1,342 people cast ballots during the first two days of early voting.
Overall, 52,204 people voted statewide over the weekend, according to unofficial tallies.
Democrats are voting in the three-way state comptroller primary between incumbent Thomas DiNapoli and challengers Drew Warshaw and Raj Goyle in the only statewide seat on the ballot.
On Long Island, Democrats are also choosing between incumbent Tom Suozzi and challenger Danielle Welch in the primary for the 3rd Congressional District. There is also a Democratic primary in the 1st Congressional District between Lukas Ventouras and Christopher Gallant.
Republican primary voters are choosing between Michael LiPetri and Greg Hach for the right to take on Suozzi or Welch in the general election. There is also a Republican primary for the 4th Congressional District between Jeanine Driscoll and Marvin Williams.
Democratic voters in East Hampton will choose between Jerry Larsen and Kathee Burke-Gonzalez in the town supervisor primary.
Early voting will continue through June 21. Voting for the primary ends June 23.
