Long Island weather: Showers, possible thunderstorms

Stormy weather remains in the Long Island forecast, with a 90% chance of showers and occasional thunder through 11 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Between 1/10th to 1/4 of an inch of rain is expected, the weather service said in its latest forecast early Tuesday evening.
The first week of September will continue to see rainy conditions, as the same storm threats are likely Wednesday and Thursday. Highs both days will top out between 75 and 80 degrees with evening lows in the mid 60s.
There is a 60% chance of showers late Wednesday into Thursday with potential thunderstorms, the weather service said.
The pattern should break on Friday, allowing for a sunny and dry Labor Day weekend with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.
