The former home of serial killer Joel Rifkin has gotten a price reduction. The East Meadow house, which hit the market in April, is now listed for $780,000.
This is the home's second price reduction: According to its price history on Realtor.com, it was first listed in April for $825,000. The listing was removed two weeks later and the house came back on the market for $799,999 last month.
It's where Rifkin lived with his family, and murdered some of his 17 victims — all female sex workers — between 1989 and 1993, he told authorities.
An open house is scheduled for Saturday, from noon to 2 p.m.
The home is on Garden Street, and contains four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The last time it was on the market was in 2010, for $424,500. After undergoing several price reductions throughout the year, according to Realtor.com, the house closed in February 2011 for $322,000.
"That's an old story," listing agent Marc Kaplan, of Pinpoint Realty, told Newsday earlier this month. "At the end of the day, it's a home. I have a homeowner who lived here and raised a family. They know what they bought."
Regarding the price reduction, Kaplan could not be immediately reached for comment.
The home was built in 1951 and spans more than 1,600 square feet. It features a one-car detached garage and full basement. The listing also mentions an above-ground swimming pool.
Rifkin was arrested in 1993 and ultimately received multiple life sentences for his crimes. Now 67, he has been incarcerated at upstate Clinton Correctional Facility for more than 30 years, state records show.
