As Long Island home prices keep rising, the amount of house a buyer gets for their buck continues to drop.
The median price of a single-family home in August was $911,000 in Nassau County and $760,000 in Suffolk, according to data from OneKey MLS. Those prices typically purchased a home with less than four bedrooms, a data analysis showed.
Where can buyers find more bedrooms for less money? Newsday compared homes that sold for less than the median price in each county and had four or more bedrooms. Here's what we found:

In Nassau, the top communities were
Levittown, Massapequa, Hicksville, Valley Stream and Baldwin
In Suffolk, the top communities were
Lindenhurst, Bay Shore, Shirley, Medford and Selden
In Nassau, the communities with the most sales were Levittown (131 sales), Massapequa (80), Hicksville (77), Valley Stream (71) and Baldwin (65). In Suffolk, the top communities were Lindenhurst (79), Bay Shore (69), Shirley (66), Medford (65) and Selden (62).
