Mets postpone ceremony honoring broadcaster Howie Rose until opening weekend 2027

Sunday’s Citi Field ceremony honoring Mets radio broadcaster Howie Rose has been postponed until opening weekend 2027 due to rain, the Mets announced on Sunday morning.
Rose, 72, announced before the season that he would be retiring after the season. Since he has only called games in New York this year, his last scheduled game is Sunday, though he said his farewells on Saturday night in case Sunday’s game is rained out.
Sunday’s game against the Phillies is still scheduled to be played.
“Howie Rose is more than a broadcaster to this organization. He is a part of the fabric of the New York Mets. Out of respect for everything he has meant to our fans, we have decided to postpone the ceremony and instead honor him during Opening Weekend 2027,” said President of Business Operations Lew Sherr. “While we are disappointed that inclement weather will prevent us from having our planned ceremony, we want to make sure that we properly celebrate Howie for all that he has done for the Mets.”
Despite the postponement, the first 15,000 fans who attend today’s scheduled game will still receive a “Put it in the books” notebook and scorecard.
Acknowledging that anticipated programming has shifted, fans holding a paid ticket for Sunday’s contest will receive a digital ticket voucher for a ticket comparable in price and location to a 2027 April-May home game at Citi Field (exclusions apply*), subject to availability. Fans can redeem and access digital vouchers in their My Mets Tickets account (accessed by clicking the Vouchers tab) beginning when 2027 single-game tickets go on sale to the public.
