PENSACOLA, Fla. — Chris Parson threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score to lead Austin Peay to a 38-16 victory over West Florida on Saturday night.

Parson completed 7 of 16 passes for 149 yards and added 59 yards rushing on 14 carries. Courtland Simmons ran 17 times for 78 yards with a touchdown for Austin Peay (3-1, 1-0 United Athletic Conference), which is ranked No. 14 in the Stats Perform Top 25 poll. Denver Harper had one carry, a 41-yard touchdown run, for the Governors.

Ty'ray Davis was 8-of-14 passing for 118 yards and threw a touchdown and an interception for West Florida (2-1, 1-1). Davis also carried the ball 19 times for 19 yards that included a 14-yard TD run. Markel Townsend finished with nine carries for 93 yards rushing for the 17th-ranked Argonauts.

Parson threw a 61-yard touchdown pass to Jaden Robinson and Harper scored on a his long run to make it 14-0 midway through the opening quarter. Parson scored on a 10-yard run early in the second, and Simmons' 5-yard touchdown run made it 28-7.

Justin Wimpye intercepted a Davis pass and returned the ball 70 yards into the end zone for the Governors to cap the scoring with 4:26 left in the game.
