A day after cornerback Cor’Dale Flott left in free agency, the Giants found a potential replacement on Tuesday and another ex-Raven to join their flock.

The team agreed to sign cornerback Greg Newsome II and fullback Patrick Ricard, a league source confirmed to Newsday. Newsome, who agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $10 million, last played for the Jaguars after a trade from the Browns.

Ricard was a six-time Pro Bowl selection with the Ravens and is reunited with Giants coach John Harbaugh. He agreed to a two-year deal worth up to $8.5 million.

The team also agreed to a one-year deals with kicker Jason Sanders and re-signing linebacker Micah McFadden, per league source. Sanders was released by the Dolphins last week after missing all of last season with a hip injury suffered in preseason.

Contracts can became official on Wednesday starting at 4 p.m. when the new league year begins.

Newsome was drafted by the Browns in 2021 and played 67 games with 54 starts and has four interceptions with 42 pass deflections. He lost his starting job in 2024 after the Browns exercised his fifth-year option but regained it last season.

However, Newsome was traded to the Jaguars after five games. He started seven of his eight games played for Jacksonville, who reached the playoffs last season. He posted a quick message on X sounding eager to join his new team.

“BIG BLUE LETS GO TO WORK!!,” Newsome wrote in all caps.

He’ll be first in line to compete for the starting cornerback job opposite Paulson Adebo. However, the Giants could seek more depth given the lack of production at that position.

Deonte Banks was demoted as a starter continued to struggle last season when on the field. Seventh-round pick Korie Black also struggled in his rookie season.

Ricard, on the other hand, brings a new dimension to the Giants offense. He blocked for Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry in Baltimore and now he’ll do the same for Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr.

Ricard is also the fourth ex-Raven who agreed to join the team. He was a three-time All-Pro selection, including a first team selection in 2024, made the All-Pro second team last season.

The Giants sometimes used defensive linemen or tight ends as fullbacks last season.

He’ll also set a tone for Harbaugh wanting the Giants to be more physical. Ricard’s size at 6-foot-3, 300 pounds, doesn’t hurt either.

“He likes big players,” general manager Joe Schoen said of Harbaugh’s ideal roster fit. “They were in the AFC North, so that was a physical division, tough players.”

As for McFadden, he’ll look to regain his form when he had at least 100 tackles in 2023 and 2024. He missed nearly all of last season after suffering a Lisfranc foot injury in the season opener.

Now McFadden will get a chance to impress on a short, prove-it deal. He’ll share the middle of the field with linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, who the Giants agreed to sign to a three-year deal on Monday.

Sanders’ signing continues an overhaul of the Giants’ special teams unit. The team agreed to a three-year deal with punter Jordan Stout and Sanders had success over his seven seasons before being injured.

The 30-year-old was 37-for-41 on field goals in 2024 and 26-for-28 on extra points. He was an All-Pro first team selection in 2020 but struggled in 2021 with a career-low 74.2% on field goals. After that, he improved his conversion rate over the next three seasons.

Adding Sanders means the Giants will likely move on from Graham Gano. Gano’s injuries over the last three years limited him to just 23 games since the start of 2023. As a result, the Giants used at least three kickers in each of those seasons.

The team also has kicker Ben Sauls, on the roster, who was 8-for-8 last season over the final three games.

In other moves, the team agreed to re-sign cornerback Art Green and outside linebacker Caleb Murphy to one-year deals, according to a league source. Green was a key special teams member last season and Murphy was claimed off waivers last December but didn’t appear in a game.
